All month-Reflections of a Spill: 20 Years Later Art and science collaborative exhibit at the Pratt

1-Sept 30    Annual Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby Begins  Summer long fishing derby sponsored by the Homer Chamber of Commerce.  Monthly cash prizes.

1-June 3 - Ptarmigan Arts Back Room Gallery presents “Reflections of Life on Kachemak Bay, an invitational mixed media exhibit showcasing the multiple talents of our local artists.  Opening reception 5-7pm Friday.  The theme encompass the variety of life found in, on, under, and around Kachemak Bay, including animal, human, sport, and recreational life.  

2  Clean Up Day  11am-3pm.  Drop off trash at the Chamber of Commerce parking lot and vie for great prizes for most trash collected.  Contact the chamber for additional information, 235-7740.

6 Kachemak Bay Campus Commencement Exercises  7pm at Mariner Theatre

7-10 Annual Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival   themed Birds in Culture: Our Brothers and Sisters Return. We are thrilled to celebrate spring and the 50th anniversary of Alaska's Statehood with two keynote speakers: Yup'ik storyteller Jack Dalton and Paul Baicich, author, former employee of the American Birding Association and chair of the Council on Environmental Education's Bird Education Network. This fun-filled weekend celebrates the annual return of hundreds and thousands of shorebirds as well as seabirds and woodland birds to Kachemak Bay. The Festival is geared towards birders of all ages and skills, with workshops and presentations, field events and entertainment for the entire family. 21   Alaska Maritime Wildlife Refuge Mixer Celebrating 100 Years of Conserving Alaska’s Wildlands and Wildlife  5-7pm at Islands & Ocean Visitor Center, 95 Sterling Highway.

21-25  Annual Kachemak Bay SeaFest   Kayak Festival, Wooden Boat Show and Seafair Safety Rodeo rolled into one great event. Featuring kayaking and related events, seminars, demonstrations and workshops for all ages and skill levels. Call the Homer Chamber of Commerce for more information 235-7740.

21-26  Anchor Point Memorial Weekend Family Fun Festival  Events include free cookouts, pancake breakfast, games for kids of all ages, teen and adult softball and home run derby, music and lots of fun. 29-31 KiteFest Alaska  Bigger, better and actually organized’.
